Coast Dental Cleaning Cost in 2026: the Published $183 Fee

Most dental chains will not put a cleaning price in writing, which is why cost pages about them are usually guesswork. Coast is the exception. It publishes a seven-page document titled 2026 FEE SCHEDULE, reference CD-103036 R06/26 v1, with a Non-Member column and a SmilePlus Member column, covering diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal and denture codes. The catch is that it is a PDF linked from the SmilePlus page rather than a table on the site, so it does not turn up when you look at the treatment pages.

The table below is the cleaning-related part of that schedule, Non-Member column, reproduced as published. These are not estimates and not our modelling: if an uninsured patient who is not a SmilePlus member walks into a Coast office, this is the price list their quote comes from.

The 2026 increase is the real story

Because Coast publishes a schedule every year, and because the 2025 edition (CD-103036 R01/25) is still sitting on the same server, the year-on-year move can be read directly rather than inferred. It is large.

Coast has not published a reason, and we are not going to invent one. What is worth knowing as a patient is the scale: a 71% rise on a routine cleaning and a 50% rise on per-quadrant scaling and root planing, across one revision, are both far above general dental inflation, which the BLS dental services index has been running in the low single digits year on year. One practical consequence is that older quotes and older web pages about Coast pricing, including the still-live 2025 PDF, now understate what you will be charged. If you were last at a Coast office in 2025, do not assume the fee you paid then still applies.

The free new patient offer, and how it checks out

Coast's acquisition offer is a free new-patient exam, X-rays and a JetStream Water Flosser. The coupon states Save $398 and a $517 total value, with a walkout code of FREENPE covering ADA codes D0150, D0210 and D0096, and it expires September 30, 2026.

Advertised values are usually impossible to check. This one is checkable, because the same company publishes the fee schedule the savings are computed from, and it reconciles exactly:

• Comprehensive exam (D0150) at $167 plus complete X-ray series (D0210) at $231 is $398, the advertised saving to the dollar
• That $398 plus the flosser at its stated $119 full price is $517, the advertised total value

So the offer is exactly what it claims to be, which is genuinely unusual and worth saying. What it does not include is the cleaning, and it excludes the panoramic film (D0330), which the schedule prices at $204 if the dentist decides one is needed. If you want to leave with clean teeth you will be quoted the $183 cleaning on top, and it may be a second appointment, so ask when booking whether a hygienist is available the same day.

The economics of free new-patient bundles work because some proportion of patients convert to higher-margin restorative care. That is not specific to Coast; every dental support organisation runs a similar funnel. The honest summary: the bundle is real value if you use it for the exam and X-rays, and you should expect the cleaning and anything restorative to be charged at the published rates above. What SmilePlus changes, and what Coast will not tell you

SmilePlus is Coast's in-house annual savings plan. The fee schedule is emphatic that it is not insurance: the document states SmilePlus "IS NOT A REGISTERED INSURANCE PLAN" and describes it as an annual savings plan offered exclusively to patients at Coast Dental & Orthodontics. The parts that matter for cleanings are printed in the schedule's own row text:

• Two adult cleanings per year at no charge with SmilePlus Silver, instead of $183 each
• Two child cleanings per year at no charge with Silver, instead of $136 each
• Three periodontal maintenance visits per year at no charge with SmilePlus Gold, instead of $254 each
• One fluoride application per year at no charge with Gold

The obvious next question is whether the plan pays for itself, and here we have to stop: Coast does not publish the SmilePlus annual fee. The SmilePlus page describes the plan and claims savings of up to 70% but states no price, and the fee schedule prices procedures rather than the membership. We checked for it rather than assuming, and it is not there. Without that number the breakeven cannot be worked out, so ask the office directly what the Silver and Gold memberships cost per year, then compare it against two cleanings at $183 plus whatever else you expect to need. Be aware too that on the 2025 schedule the member and non-member price for a cleaning were identical at $107, with the benefit delivered entirely through the included visits rather than a per-procedure discount.

What Coast Dental is

Coast Dental & Orthodontics states more than 100 locations in Florida, Georgia and Texas. Each office is a separately licensed dental practice: the fee schedule names the professional entities as Coast Florida, P.A., Coast Dental of Georgia, P.C., and Coast Dental of Texas, PC, with the Coast Dental organisation providing non-clinical support (billing, scheduling, IT, real estate, marketing, supply chain) under a dental support organisation arrangement.

The published fee schedule is a single national document rather than one per state, so unlike most chains the headline fees do not vary by metro on paper, though individual offices can still differ in practice. Coast is also worth understanding as the counter-example to how chain pricing usually works: the reason most cost guides give ranges for a chain is that the chain refuses to put a number in writing, and when one does, the useful thing to publish is the number, not a range built around it.

Your 72-hour refund right in Florida

Coast Dental's own offer terms carry a consumer-protection notice specific to Florida: the patient has the right to refuse to pay, or to be reimbursed for, any other service performed as a result of, and within 72 hours of responding to, a free or discounted-service advertisement like this one. In plain terms, you can accept the free exam and X-rays, decline any additional recommended work on the spot, and not owe for services you did not agree to. Get an itemised, written treatment plan before agreeing to anything beyond the advertised bundle, and compare the quoted work against a second local office if the plan is large.

State-specific notes

Florida: Coast's largest market, and the only one of the three where adult Medicaid covers cleanings, through managed-care plans, so ask whether the specific office participates. Georgia: Georgia Medicaid does not cover routine adult dental, though children's dental is covered, so uninsured adults pay the published cash rate or use a discount plan.
